Hi everyone! I tried making my own vitamin gummies using gelatin and a powdered multivitamin, but they turned out like rubbery lumps! I followed a basic recipe from a blog (1 tbsp gelatin, 1/4 cup water, 1 tbsp honey, mixed in some powder). Any tips on getting a smoother texture? Or should I use agar instead?

Oh, I remember my first batch! Grandma used to make jelly with agar back in the day. Gelatin can get clumpy if you don't bloom it properly first. Try sprinkling gelatin over cold water, let it sit for 5 min, then warm gently. Also, some vitamin powders don't dissolve well – I use a mortar and pestle to grind them super fine. But agar gives a firmer bite, more like store-bought gummies. What's your powder brand?

Agar is vegan, which is why I use it! But it sets at room temp, so if you add hot powder it might not set right. I do 1 tsp agar to 1 cup liquid, bring to boil, simmer 5 min, then add powder off heat. Also, citrus juice helps mask the vitamin taste. My last batch came out perfect – I used a mango puree base. If you want, I can share my recipe!

I'm new to all this but I tried with agar and it worked! I used a kids' multivitamin powder from the health store. Only problem was they stuck to the mold. Maybe I didn't use enough oil? Also, I added too much water by accident and they were super soft. How do you guys store them? I put mine in the fridge but they got sweaty.

Thanks for the tips! I'll try blooming the gelatin next time. My powder is a generic brand from the pharmacy – definitely not super fine. Holly, I'd love your mango recipe! And for storage, I read you can dust them with cornstarch to prevent sticking, then keep in an airtight container in the fridge. Works for store-bought gummy vitamins!
