Hey guys! I tried making my own vitamin gummies using gelatin, fruit juice, and powdered vitamin C and B12. I followed a recipe online but they turned out super rubbery and taste kinda metallic. Any tips for a newbie? I want them to taste like the store-bought ones.

Oh, the metallic taste is probably from the vitamin powder – some brands are worse than others. I usually mix my powders with a little bit of honey or stevia to mask it. Also, make sure you're not overheating the gelatin! It can mess with the texture. Try blooming it in cold water first.

I use agar agar instead of gelatin because it's plant-based. The trick is to let it set at room temp, not in the fridge – fridge makes them way too firm. And for the rubberiness, maybe lessen the gelatin? I do 2 tbsp per cup of liquid. Also, add a little citric acid for tang!

Yeah, I've had rubbery batches when I used too much gelatin. Try half the amount and see. Also, simmer your fruit juice a bit to concentrate the flavor – it helps cover the vitamin taste. And if you're using a lot of powder, maybe blend it with a bit of oil to avoid clumps.

Rubber squad represent! Honestly, I gave up on perfect texture and just chew them like tough candy. But if you want that squishy store feel, try adding some cornstarch or tapioca starch to the mix. And pro tip: use a silicone mold and spray it lightly with oil so they pop out easier.
