My toddler thinks my collagen powder is pixie dust! Anyone else's kids confused by supplements?

OMG this just happened yesterday and I'm still laughing/cringing. I keep my collagen peptides in a cute glass jar on the kitchen counter (trying to be aesthetic, lol). My 4-year-old saw me mixing it into my smoothie and asked what it was. I said 'mommy's special powder to stay strong.' Fast forward to this morning - I walk into the living room and he's SPRINKLING IT ON HIS TOAST like fairy dust! 'Making magic toast, mama!' he says. 😂 At least it's tasteless? But now I'm worried he'll think all powders are food-safe. Should I be locking this stuff up?

GlowGigi352 - As a retired nurse, I've seen similar situations! While collagen is generally safe, any supplement can cause stomach upset in large amounts. More concerning is the precedent - kids are curious. I'd recommend storing ALL supplements (powders, gummies, pills) up high or locked, just like medications. My grandson once mistook fiber powder for snow cone flavoring - let's just say the bathroom aftermath was memorable. Better safe than sorry!

Ugh, textures are a battle here too. My husband REFUSES to try my greens powder because he says it looks like 'pond scum.' Won't even taste it! Meanwhile my 7-year-old calls my protein powder 'dinosaur sand' and keeps asking to play with it. I'm skeptical about most supplements anyway, but the behavioral stuff is real. GlowGigi352 - maybe try a labeled container? My kid respects 'MOM'S WORK STUFF - DO NOT TOUCH' signs more than I expected.

Biohacker perspective: This is why I use smart storage solutions. All my powders are in identical opaque containers with QR codes linking to safety data sheets. No confusion, optimized for efficiency. But anecdote-wise, my partner once accidentally used my pre-workout instead of electrolyte powder during a hike - let's just say they were VERY energized. GlowGigi352, consider child-lock containers from the pharmacy section. HealthHacker - have you tried mixing greens powder into spaghetti sauce? Complete texture camouflage.

Thanks everyone! CitrusClaire435 - you're right, I moved everything to the top shelf today. HealthHacker - 'dinosaur sand' is hilarious, and good tip about the signs! VitalVince224 - QR codes are next-level, but the spaghetti sauce idea might work for my veggie-averse spouse too. Update: my son now calls the powder 'mommy's magic sand' and asks if it will help him fly. At least the conversation opened up about what supplements are for!
