Traveling with Gummies: Melted Mess or TSA Terror?

Hey everyone! I'm heading on a 3-week trip that involves a plane, some long car rides, and a lot of hiking. I don't want to skip my gummy vitamins, but I'm worried about them melting in my luggage or getting flagged by TSA. Any tips or horror stories? Do they hold up in heat? And what about airport security – do they care about gummies? Thanks!

Great question! I've taken my gummies on many flights and road trips. TSA is totally chill about gummies – they're not a liquid or gel, so just keep them in your carry-on in a clear bag if you want extra ease. As for melting, it's a real concern. I'd avoid keeping them in a hot car or direct sunlight. For plane travel, the cargo hold is usually cool, but if you have them in your carry-on, the cabin is fine. For hiking, use an insulated pouch or a small cooler with an ice pack. Also, consider getting a travel-sized container that's airtight to keep moisture out. Safe travels!

I've had a near-meltdown (pun intended) with gummies in my backpack on a summer hike. They were a bit soft but not completely melted – they got squished and kind of fused together. Not fun. Now I pack them in a small hard-shell case (like a pill organizer) and wrap it in a sock or put it in a cooler with a gel pack. Also, for long car rides, don't leave them in the glovebox – that thing becomes an oven! Keep them in a cooler with your drinks. And yes, TSA has never given me a second glance for gummies. Just keep them in original packaging or a labeled container to avoid confusion.

I'm a bit paranoid about anything looking like vitamins, so I always carry a copy of the label or a screenshot on my phone. But gummies are fine – they're solid, not a gel. As for melting, I've been on road trips in Arizona in 110°F and they got soft but didn't liquefy. They still worked but looked like a blob. I'd suggest putting them in a small insulated lunch bag with an ice pack – that's what I do now. Plus, when you're at your destination, store them in a cool, dark place. And if you're hiking, keep them in your hip belt pocket where your body heat might actually be okay – just don't leave them in your pack for hours in the sun.

Thanks everyone! This is super helpful. I'll definitely get a small insulated pouch and maybe a hard case. And good to know TSA won't care – I was overthinking that. I'll keep them in my carry-on with my other snacks. Appreciate the tips!
