Hey yall! I'm trying to make my own prenatal gummies at home to avoid all the sugar and junk in store-bought. I used agar agar, some prenatal vitamin powder, and a little stevia. The mixture set but it's like rubbery slime, not chewy gummies. Any tips?

Ugh, agar is tricky! I've had better luck with gelatin for chewy gummies. But if you're keto, maybe try adding a bit more agar and letting it set longer in the fridge? Also, vitamin powders can mess with the texture. Maybe reduce the powder amount?

I make my own prenatal gummies all the time! I use grass-fed gelatin and a little lemon juice to help with the taste. For agar, you need to boil it properly and use the right ratio. Try 1 tbsp agar powder to 1 cup liquid, simmer 5 min, then pour. Also, add your vitamin powder after cooling a bit so heat doesn't destroy nutrients.

Thanks! I'll try the ratio tip. Maybe I didn't simmer long enough. Also, Ivy, do you have a recipe using gelatin that's low carb? I want to avoid sugar.

Sure! I use 1/4 cup cold water, 2 tbsp gelatin, 1/2 cup boiling water, and my prenatal powder. Mix cold water + gelatin, let bloom, add boiling water, stir, add powder, pour into molds. Sweeten with monk fruit if needed. Gets nice and chewy!
