So I tried making my own prenatal gummies with gelatin and a powdered prenatal vitamin. I used 1 tbsp gelatin to 1/2 cup juice, but they came out hard as rocks. Any recipe tips? I'm aiming for a soft, chewy texture.

Hey Noah, I've been down this road! Your ratio is off. For soft gummies, try 2 tbsp gelatin per cup of liquid. Also, let the gelatin bloom in cold liquid for 5 min before heating gently. Don't boil! Agar is trickier; I'd stick with gelatin.

Adding to Zen's point: the vitamin powder might be acidic, which can break down gelatin. Try mixing the powder with a little warm water first, then add to the gelatin mixture. Also, consider using a mold and refrigerating at least 2 hrs.

Thanks! So I should bloom the gelatin and maybe add the vitamin powder after dissolving? And what about using agar for a vegan option? I have a friend who's plant-based.

For agar, use about 1 tsp per cup liquid. Bring to a boil while stirring, then simmer 5 min. It sets firmer than gelatin, so less is more. But watch out: higher temps can degrade some vitamins. Might be better to add powders after cooling slightly.
