Help! My toddler thinks prenatal gummies are candy!
So I bought these prenatal gummies cause my wife’s pregnant again. Today my 3yo found the bottle, managed to open it, and ate like 5 before my wife caught her! She was so proud, thought she found candy. 🤦♂️ Is there any danger? They’re strawberry flavored but not sugar-free obviously. Also, I’m a paleo dieter so I’m cringing at all the additives.
Oh man, that’s a classic! My kid did the same with my magnesium gummies. Just check the label for xylitol or sugar alcohols, they can cause GI upset. Also maybe invest in a childproof lock? As a biohacker I recommend storing supplements high up and in opaque containers. The good news is one time over dose of prenatals is unlikely to be serious, but call poison control if you’re worried.
Retired nurse here - I've seen this a lot. Most prenatals are just vitamins with iron, and iron overdose is the main concern. For a 3yo, 5 gummies is probably not toxic but can cause stomach pain, nausea, or constipation. Monitor for any symptoms and call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) for peace of mind. Also, hide them well - kids are clever!
Thanks guys! Yeah we’re moving them to the top shelf now. And I’ll check the xylitol situation. My wife is freaking out but I’m like, it’s just extra vitamins 😂. She’s fine so far, no tummy ache. But man, I can’t believe she loved the taste! I hate gummy texture myself.
