Is Olly Sleep Gummies safe during pregnancy? I'm skeptical
Just read this article about Olly Sleep Gummies and pregnancy. I'm not pregnant but my wife is, and she's been having trouble sleeping. We were thinking of trying these, but now I'm second-guessing. It says they contain melatonin and some herbs that might not be safe. Anyone have any experience or thoughts?
Honestly, I wouldn't risk it. I'm all for natural stuff but when you're pregnant, even vitamins need a doctor's ok. Melatonin is a hormone, and there just isn't enough research on how it affects a developing baby. Plus, the gummies have other stuff like lemon balm, which can interact. Better safe than sorry – ask your OB first.
Totally agree with YogurtYuri. I've been preggo twice and my doc always said to avoid any herbal supplements unless specifically approved. There are some pregnancy-safe sleep aids like magnesium or just a warm bath. But those gummies? Nah. The article mentions the lack of FDA regulation too. Not worth the risk.
I'm a granola dad so I'm all for natural, but even I know that 'natural' doesn't mean safe during pregnancy. My wife took regular prenatal gummies but we did a ton of research on what's in them. The Olly ones have a lot of extra stuff. Better to stick with simple prenatal vitamins and maybe a meditation app for sleep. Just my two cents.
Thanks everyone, you've convinced me. We'll skip the Olly and talk to her doctor. Appreciate the advice!
