Just saw the 2026 RD-recommended gummy list and the prenatal section got me thinking. I've been making my own prenatal smoothies with real food, but gummies seem so convenient for busy days. Are these actually comparable to traditional pills? #granolamom #realfoodfirst

I mean, gummies are tasty but let's not pretend they're a health food. I stick to my coffee and my daily multivitamin pill. But for prenatals, I'd be worried about missing nutrients like iron or getting too much sugar. Anyone here actually use them?

As a science nerd, I looked into this. The absorption can be fine, but check the nutrient forms – some use poorly absorbed versions. Also, they often lack choline or iron because of taste. If you're using gummies, you might need extra supplements. And sugar content adds up if you're taking 2-4 a day.

I'm vegan and pregnant, so gummies are usually a no-go because of gelatin. But there are pectin-based ones now! I found a few without fish oil too. Just need to read labels. BTW, the article mentions a vegan option, but I'd still cross-check for B12 and iodine.
