My prenatal gummies turned hard and sugary - still safe?
Hey all, I bought a bottle of prenatal gummies a couple months ago. They were fine at first, but now they're all stuck together and have this white powdery stuff on them. They also feel kinda hard. Are they still safe to eat?? I'm almost done with the bottle and don't want to waste them, but I'm also worried since I'm pregnant.
Honestly, if they're changing texture and getting that sugar bloom, it's probably just from moisture or temp changes. They're likely safe but might not taste as good. I'd say if they smell fine and don't have any weird mold, go ahead. But when in doubt, toss 'em - your health is more important than a few bucks.
I've had this happen with my kids' gummies! You can sometimes revive them by putting them in an airtight container with a damp paper towel for a few hours - but honestly, for prenatal ones, I'd just check the expiration and if they're within date, it's fine. The white stuff is just sugar crystallizing. No worries!
As someone who avoids sugar, I'd say check the label for sugar content lol. But seriously, if they're hard, it might be losing potency. Not worth the risk during pregnancy. Better to buy fresh ones. Just my two cents.
