So I just read this study (PMID: 34567890) that says high doses of folic acid in prenatal vitamins might not be as beneficial as we thought, and could even have some risks. But the study was funded by a supplement company that sells a different form of folate. What do you all think? Is it legit or just a marketing ploy?

Girl, I've seen this before. As a retired nurse, I always tell my patients to look at who funded the study. If it's from a company that sells an alternative, take it with a grain of salt. But there is some emerging research about folic acid vs. methylfolate for certain MTHFR mutations. However, for most people, folic acid is fine. I'd talk to your doc before switching anything up.

Honestly, I just take whatever gummy tastes best lol. But no, for real, I've been taking prenatal gummies with folic acid for my wife and she's had no issues. Studies like that can be biased, but also they might have a point. I try to get a balanced view by reading multiple sources. Plus, my wife's OB said gummies are okay, so we're good.

Thanks for the input! I guess I'll ask my doctor next time. I just hate that these studies can be so confusing. Glad we have a community to bounce ideas off!
