New study says folic acid in gummies might be less absorbable?

Just saw this study (PMID: 34567890) claiming that folic acid in gummy form has lower bioavailability compared to tablets. Anyone else see this? I'm on a budget and gummies are cheaper, but if they're not working, what's the point? Wanted to hear y'all's thoughts before I switch.

Interesting find! I read a similar article on NutraIngredients a while back. It said the gummy matrix can degrade certain vitamins. But folic acid is pretty stable, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. Still, I switched to a methylfolate gummy just to be safe. Might be biased by the supplement industry though.

Honestly, I think it's legit. I took prenatal gummies for a while and my blood levels were low. Switched to a tablet and they went up. But that's just n=1. Also, the study might be funded by a tablet manufacturer? Hard to tell. I'd look at the conflict of interest statement.

As a runner, I need all the nutrients I can get. I've been using gummies for convenience during marathons. But if the absorption is crap, that's a problem. I'll check the study. Thanks for sharing! Maybe I'll do a split dose or something.
