THREAD: My probiotic gummies look weird - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I've been taking these probiotic gummies for a couple months now and just noticed something weird. The ones at the bottom of the jar have changed color - they're kinda faded and look almost cloudy? Also some of them are sticking together and feel harder than usual. They don't smell off or anything, but I'm worried. Has anyone else had this happen? Are they still safe to take?

Oh man, I've totally seen this with gummies before! It's usually sugar bloom or moisture issues. If they're getting hard and sticking, they might have absorbed some humidity or dried out. Taste-wise, they're probably fine but might be less enjoyable texture-wise. I'd try one - if it tastes normal (just maybe a bit tougher), you're likely okay. But if they taste weird or waxy, toss 'em. Storage is key - keep them somewhere cool and dry!

This reminds me of when I used to find old fruit snacks in my backpack as a kid - they'd get all hard and weird looking! Probiotic gummies can definitely degrade over time, especially if they're exposed to heat or moisture. The color change might mean the probiotics aren't as potent anymore. Check the expiration date? Personally, I'd be cautious - better to get a fresh batch than risk stomach issues. Nostalgia aside, food safety first!

From a fitness and wellness perspective: Hard, discolored gummies often mean the product has degraded. Probiotics are live cultures that need proper storage. If they've changed texture/color, the beneficial bacteria might not be active anymore. Even if they're technically 'safe' to eat, you're probably not getting the health benefits you paid for. I'd recommend replacing them and storing your next batch in a cool, dark place - maybe even the fridge if the label says it's okay.

Weekend warrior here - I've had similar issues with energy gummies during hikes! When they get hard or sticky, it's usually because of temperature changes. I once ate some that looked like yours and got a minor stomach ache. Not worth it, especially if you're relying on them for gut health. Maybe contact the manufacturer? In the meantime, I'd play it safe and get new ones. Your health isn't something to gamble with, even on lazy weekends!
