DIY Sea Moss Gummies: Help with my first batch!
Yo, I tried making my own sea moss gummies with gelatin and spirulina powder but they came out too soft and kinda slimy. I used 2 tbsp gelatin to 1 cup sea moss gel. Any tips?
Hey Pete! I've had good luck with agar agar instead of gelatin—vegan friendly and holds shape better. Try 1 tbsp agar to 1 cup liquid, simmer 5 mins, then pour. Also, letting them set in the fridge overnight helps a ton.
We do a version with organic carrot juice and a bit of lemon for flavor. The kids love 'em. For texture, I found that blooming the gelatin in cold water first makes a big difference. Maybe your gelatin wasn't fully dissolved?
My wife complains about the taste of store-bought sea moss gummies, so I'm curious about making them too. Did you add any sweetener? Stevia? Maple? And are they actually good for you?
Thanks all! @SolarSam888 I'll try agar next time. @OrangeOscar451 I did bloom, but maybe not long enough. @FuelFrank796 I used a little honey, but the sea moss taste is pretty strong. As for health, they're full of minerals, so yeah, but I'm not a doctor lol.
