Hey all, I bought a bottle of sea moss gummies about a month ago and stored them in my pantry (cool dark place). Now they've turned rock hard and some have a white powdery coating. Are they still safe to consume? I'm hesitant to toss them because they weren't cheap.

That white powder is likely sugar bloom. Happens when temps fluctuate. Usually still safe to eat, but texture might suck. If they smell off or have mold, toss 'em. For future, keep 'em in the fridge to prevent hardening.

I'd toss 'em tbh. Once they harden like that, the nutrients degrade. Plus sea moss is a natural thickener, so once it goes from gel to hard, it's oxidized. Not worth the risk for me. Get fresh sea moss gel instead.

Check the ingredients. If they have natural preservatives like citric acid or vitamin E, they're probably fine. But gummies with no preservatives spoil faster. If there's no mold and they taste ok, I'd still eat them. Just chew carefully lol.

Thanks everyone. No mold, just hard and sugary. I'll try one and see. If it's awful, I'll switch to gel. Appreciate the tips on storage too!
