Shilajit gummies changed color and got hard – safe to eat?
Hey all, I've been taking these Shilajit gummies for a month now. I left the bottle in my car for a day (it was hot) and when I came back, they were stuck together and kinda hard. Also the color darkened a bit. Are they still good or should I toss them?
Oh honey, I wouldn't risk it. Heat can degrade the active compounds and encourage bacteria growth. When gummies change texture and color, it's a sign they've been compromised. Better safe than sorry, especially with something like Shilajit – you don't want to mess with that. Just buy a new bottle and keep it in the fridge.
I've had similar happen with my gummies in summer! Actually, I think it's often just the sugar crystallizing. If they don't smell off or have mold, they might be okay. But honestly, if the texture is weird, it might not dissolve well. I'd check with the company's customer service – they might have specific advice for storage.
As a yoga instructor, I always tell my students to listen to their bodies and trust their instincts. If the gummies feel off, your gut might be telling you something. That said, I've left my gummies in a warm room and they got clumpy – I still ate them and was fine. But if there's any doubt, I'd say get a fresh batch. Your health is worth the extra few bucks.
