Shilajit Gummies Changed Color & Texture – Still Safe?
Hey everyone! I got a bottle of Shilajit gummies about 2 months ago. They were dark brown and soft when I got them, but now they've turned kind of grayish and become really hard and brittle. Some are even stuck together. Are they still safe to eat? I don't want to waste them!
Color changes and hardening could be due to sugar crystallization or moisture loss. Sugar bloom (white spots) is harmless. But if they've turned grayish, that might be oxidation or mold. Check for any moldy smell or fuzz. If in doubt, toss them. Better safe than sorry.
Honestly, I've eaten gummies that got hard and they were fine. They just got a bit chewy. But if they look weird like gray, I'd probably not risk it. Maybe try contacting the brand? I know some companies have good return policies.
I'd say trust your gut. If they look off, they probably are. Shilajit can have a strong taste anyway, so if they changed color, the nutrients might have degraded. I'd toss and buy a fresh bottle. Also, keep them in a cool, dark place next time.
Thanks everyone! I'll bin them and get a new bottle. I'll also store them in the fridge this time. Appreciate the advice! 🙏
