DIY Sleep Gummies Disaster - Help with Recipe & Vitamin Mixing!
Hey everyone, I tried making my own sleep gummies at home last night and it was a total fail! Used gelatin, some melatonin and magnesium powder I had, plus a little honey. They came out weirdly rubbery and the vitamins didn't mix well - gritty texture. Anyone have a foolproof recipe or tips for getting powders to dissolve properly? I'm determined to make this work without buying expensive store ones!
lol been there! I tried making some with agar once for a vegan version - tech tip: use an immersion blender or small whisk attachment on a milk frother to mix the powders into your liquid base BEFORE adding gelatin. Also, maybe try a digital scale for precise measurements? I use one for my coffee brewing and it helps consistency. What temp did you heat your mixture to? Gelatin can get weird if overheated.
Oh dear, sending peaceful vibes your way! As a yoga instructor, I make mine with chamomile tea as the base instead of water - adds natural calming properties. For mixing, I find warming the liquid gently (not boiling) and whisking continuously helps. Also, have you considered adding a tiny bit of sunflower lecithin? It's an emulsifier that might help blend everything smoothly. Breathe through the process - mindfulness in cooking matters too!
This is SO on-brand for my wellness journey! I've perfected my recipe after 3 failed batches. KEY TIPS: 1) Use magnesium glycinate powder instead of citrate (dissolves better), 2) Add powders to WARM liquid (not hot) and blend for 60 sec, 3) Try adding a tsp of MCT oil for smoother texture. My followers love when I post DIY supplement hacks - would you mind if I shared your troubleshooting journey in my stories? #WellnessWarrior
Thanks all! @NectarNina371 I definitely overheated it - was rushing. @FloraFinn925 chamomile tea is genius! @KaleKen217 magnesium glycinate tip makes sense. Gonna try again tonight with all your advice. Will report back - hopefully with actual edible gummies this time!
