My 5yo son thought the sleep gummies were candy...

Okay, so I just had to share this. I have a 5yo son who is like a little squirrel for anything sweet. Last night I gave him his usual melatonin gummy and he asked for another one. I said no, it's not candy. He then tried to sneak a handful while I was putting away laundry. I caught him with four in his hand! He said 'but they're so yummy and colorful!' I'm scared he might really hurt himself. I already keep them high up but he climbs. Anyone else have this problem? How do you store them??

I feel your pain! My kids are older now but when they were young we had the same issue. I bought a child-proof lockbox for all vitamins and supplements. It's not just about gummies, you know. Also, we have a rule: vitamins are medicine, not candy. We make it clear and even taste them in front of the kids to show that they're not sweet like candy. Some brands have a weird texture that kids don't like. Maybe you can switch to a chewable tablet that's less candy-like? Just a thought.

Oh dear, that's a bit scary! We keep all our gummies in the fridge (the kids know not to touch that). But seriously, we also do it as a family activity – we call it 'nighttime treats' and we all take ours together. That way they see it as a once-a-day thing. And I have to say, my husband accidentally ate one thinking it was a fruit snack. He was expecting sour peach, got a bit of a surprise lol. I now label everything!

I'm on night shift and I take sleep gummies to help me during the day. I don't have kids, but my roommate's dog got into my stash once. Scary. Anyway, my advice: treat them like medicine. I've got a mini safe that I use for my meds, and I put them there. Also, there are gummies with a bitter taste added to discourage eating too many. Look into that. And maybe talk to your pediatrician about making sure your kid doesn't get into them. Hope it works out!

I can totally relate. My daughter is autistic and has no concept of 'too many'. Once she grabbed the bottle and ran behind the couch. I had to fish out gummies from her mouth. I now have a lock on my bathroom cabinet and she can't get to them. Plus, i found that the texture of some gummies (the pectin ones) are less appealing to her. I now only buy those and she asks for them less. Good luck, it gets better (or they get faster)!
