Saw this study on melatonin in sleep gummies - legit research or biased hype?
Hey all, just stumbled on this article summarizing a recent study (PMID: 12345678) about melatonin in sleep gummies. It claims the dosage in most gummies is way too low to be effective unless you take like 4-5 of them. But the study was funded by a supplement company... makes me skeptical. What do you guys think? Is this legit science or just marketing spin? I've been using 'DreamZzz' gummies for a month and they kinda work, but now I'm wondering.
lol RhinoRich31, I feel you. I always check who funded the study first - it's like checking the specs on a new gadget. If it's funded by a company selling high-dose melatonin, of course they'll say low-dose stuff doesn't work. I use 'SnoozeBot' gummies (they have a cool app to track sleep, btw) and they work fine for me at the recommended dose. Maybe try a different brand? Or just ignore the study if it smells biased.
Oh man, this takes me back to the 90s when everyone was obsessed with herbal sleep aids. Melatonin studies have always been messy. I remember reading old blogs about it. Personally, I think it depends on your body - some people respond to low doses, some need more. The funding thing is a red flag though. I stick to 'NightyNight' gummies 'cause they use a blend of ingredients, not just melatonin. Maybe look for something with L-theanine or chamomile too?
Thanks guys! FloraFinn847, good point about the funding - totally agree it's shady. GummyGuru308, I like that idea of a blend. Maybe I'll try mixing my own 'sleep gummy' recipe at home with some chamomile extract, haha. But seriously, might switch brands. Anyone else have anecdotes about melatonin doses working or not?
