THREAD: Sleep Gummies Flavor Debate: Love Berry, Hate Citrus - What Should I Try Next?Started by OP

Hey everyone, need some advice on sleep gummy flavors! I've been using the Berry Bliss ones for months and absolutely love them - they taste amazing and actually help me sleep. But last week I tried the Citrus Zest flavor and... wow, it was awful. Super bitter aftertaste and kinda chemically? Anyway, I'm almost out of my Berry Bliss and want to try something new, but I'm scared of getting another dud. What's the consensus on the 'best' flavor I should buy next? Anyone have favorites that don't taste like medicine?

Interesting observation about the Citrus Zest! From a formulation perspective, citrus flavors can be tricky with melatonin-based supplements - the acidity sometimes interacts with other ingredients, potentially causing that bitter aftertaste you mentioned. Berry flavors typically use more stable compounds. Have you considered the Lavender Lemon? The lavender contains linalool, which has documented calming effects that synergize with melatonin. Plus, the lemon is usually milder than straight citrus blends. Just check the mg of melatonin - some brands vary between flavors!

omg i feel you on the citrus ones!! i tried making my own sleep gummies once and citrus flavors ALWAYS come out weird unless you use fresh zest (which is $$$). Berry is definitely the safest bet. But if you want to branch out, the vanilla chamomile ones from 'SleepyTime Co' are actually pretty good - tastes like a mild tea! Or you could totally DIY it - i have a recipe using berry juice concentrate, gelatin, and melatonin powder that's way cheaper than store bought. way easier to control the flavor too!

Before you buy anything, check if they're actually vegan!! So many 'berry' gummies use gelatin (animal bones, ew). The citrus ones you hated might've been pectin-based (plant-based) which could explain the texture difference. I only use the 'DreamHerb' brand - their lavender-mint pectin gummies are amazing and 100% plant-based. The mint helps with digestion too. But yeah, stay away from anything 'zest' or 'citrus burst' - they always taste artificial.

Thanks everyone! This is super helpful. @AlphaAdam - didn't know about the acidity thing, that makes sense. @IndigoIris540 - the vanilla chamomile sounds interesting, might try that! @GreenGreg281 - good call on checking ingredients, I'm not vegan but prefer plant-based when possible. Think I'll go with either the lavender lemon or vanilla chamomile and report back. Appreciate the advice!
