Are we turning our vitamins into candy?
Okay, I need to vent. I just bought a bottle of gummy vitamins and the first ingredient is sugar! Like, really? We're trying to be healthy here, not eat candy. I get that gummies are convenient, but this whole 'candy-fication' of supplements is getting out of hand. I feel like I'm feeding my kids jellybeans every morning. Can't we have pills that are actually good for us without all the sugar?
I hear you, GlowGigi, but as a dad of three who's always running on 4 hours of sleep, I NEED the gummies. My kids will NOT take a pill to save my life, and I'm not about to fight them every morning. If that means a little extra sugar, so be it. Plus, I actually find I remember to take them more often because they taste good. It's a trade-off, I guess. Maybe just look for brands with less sugar?
Have you guys tried making your own gummies at home? I got into it during the lockdown, and it's honestly a game-changer. You control the sweetness, use natural fruit juice, and you can even add probiotics or whatever. It takes a bit of time, but it's fun. Plus, I can make them in weird shapes and my kids love them. Just a thought for those worried about the sugar.
LemonLiam, that sounds interesting, but I don't have time to DIY my vitamins. And Steve, I totally get the convenience factor, but I just wish there were more options that weren't basically candy. I found some gummies sweetened with stevia, but they tasted weird. Maybe we just need to suck it up and take the pills, huh? 😅
Haha, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a pill that tastes like nothing, but my kids would revolt. I'll sacrifice a little sugar to keep everyone sane. And hey, at least gummies have come a long way - I remember when they tasted like chalk. Now they taste like fruit snacks. Progress, right? Anyway, to each their own. 🤷♂️
