Color change in my gummies - safe to eat?
Hey everyone, I've been taking these gummy vitamins for a while and I noticed they've changed color and texture. Some are harder, some stuck together, and a few have a white film on them (sugar bloom?). Are they still safe to eat? I don't want to toss them if they're fine, but also don't wanna get sick.
Dude, I wouldn't risk it. I had gummies that looked like that once and they tasted awful. Just buy a new bottle, they're not that expensive. Better safe than sorry.
I've had that happen with my gummies if I leave the bottle open or it's humid. Usually they're fine but if they're hard and stuck together, they might have lost potency or texture. I usually toss them if they're really bad, but if it's just sugar bloom, they're fine. Check the expiration date too.
As a med student, I can tell you that the main concern is moisture. Sugar bloom is harmless, but if the gummies are hard and stuck, it might indicate moisture got in, which can degrade the vitamins. They probably aren't harmful, but they might not be as effective. If they smell or taste off, definitely don't eat them.
I had a jar do that after I left it in my gym bag. I just ate them anyway and I'm fine. But I'm not a doctor. If it's from heat, might be ok. But if you're worried, just get a new one. Not worth the stress.
