Do Gummy Vitamins Melt in Your Carry-On? Travel Tips?
Hey all! Going on a 10-hour flight and then a hiking trip. I'm bringing my gummy vitamins and softgels. Worried they'll melt in my bag or get confiscated at TSA. Any tips? Also, do they go bad if they get hot?
Girl, I feel you! I flew to Bali last year with my vegan gummies. They didn't melt but they got a bit soft. I kept them in my carry-on and they were fine. Just put them in a ziplock bag to avoid any mess if they do squish. TSA didn't even look twice. But yeah, they might get a little sticky if it's really hot. I'd say keep them in your personal item, not checked luggage, and maybe wrap them in a sock for insulation. Safe travels!
Hey! As a wellness influencer who travels a lot, I've tested this. Most gummies have a melting point around 90°F but if your carry-on sits on the tarmac in Phoenix in summer, it could be 120°F in the cargo hold. So definitely keep them with you. Also, TSA won't care about solid gummies - they're not liquids. But if they're softgels, those are technically liquids? Hmm, I'd put them in a clear bag just in case. Also, I use a small insulated lunch bag for my vitamins, keeps them cool. And for storage, once you're at your destination, keep them in a cool, dry place. Don't leave them in a hot car! Hope that helps!
I'm a digital nomad and I've traveled to 30+ countries with my gummies. Honestly, I've never had them melt, but I've had them get a bit soft. My trick: I put them in a small pill organizer and then in a silicone travel bottle. And I always keep them in my personal item (like a backpack) so they're not in the overhead bin. For TSA, they're solid so no issue. Also, if you're hiking, keep them in a zip lock bag with a desiccant packet to absorb moisture. And if you're worried about heat, you can even freeze them before you leave - they thaw fine. Safe travels!
Thanks for the tips, everyone! I'll definitely use a ziplock and keep them in my personal item. The insulated bag idea is smart, Zack. And Flora, I'll try the desiccant trick. Appreciate the help!
