Just read this article about how vegan softgel manufacturing is changing the supplement industry. It says they're using plant-based starches and carrageenan instead of gelatin. I've been thinking about switching my omega-3s to a vegan option, but worried about quality. Anyone tried vegan softgels? Here's the article: [link]

Yes! I've been using vegan softgels for my vitamins for a while now. They're actually easier on my stomach than gelatin ones. The article mentions pullulan which is a tapioca-based alternative - my fave brand uses that. Highly recommend giving them a shot if you're plant-based or just want cleaner ingredients!

I'm not vegan but I tried vegan DHA softgels for my kiddo (allergic to gelatin) and they worked great. The only downside is that some brands use palm oil to make them, which is not great for the environment. But the article says they're working on sustainable sources, so that's cool.

I remember when softgels were either giant horse pills or just gelatin. These new vegan ones seem way more advanced. I tried a vegan turmeric softgel and it didn't leak or smell weird. I'm curious if they have a different melting point in hot weather though - anyone travel with them?

OMG I saw this article too! I've been pushing my yoga students to go vegan with their supplements. I've been using vegan vitamin E softgels for my skin and they're amazing. The bioavailability is supposed to be better because the plant-based shell doesn't interfere with absorption. But I still have to watch out for added sugars in some brands!
