Is this study on magnesium bisglycinate legit or just marketing?
Hey everyone, I found this study on PubMed (PMID: 34567890) about magnesium bisglycinate for sleep. Claiming it's way more absorbable than oxide. But it was funded by a supplement company. Thoughts? Is it biased or legit? I'm trying to up my magnesium game on paleo.
Ugh, funder bias is real. But I've used that form and it's gentler on my stomach. Check if the study is peer-reviewed and if the authors have conflicts of interest. Also, look for independent replications. What's the effect size? 🧐
I just skimmed it. Seems okay but small sample size. Magnesium bisglycinate is generally well-tolerated, but I'd take it with a grain of salt. I usually check examine.com for unbiased breakdowns. From my digital nomad hammock, I'd say try it and see if it works for you.
Thanks both! GlowGigi, great point about conflict of interest. RhinoRich, I'll check examine. Maybe I'll grab a small batch and test it out for a week. Sleep has been crappy lately.
Let us know how it goes! Also, consider glycine alone - it's the amino acid chelated to mag. Some people get better sleep from that. Keep it eco-friendly, try a bulk powder to reduce packaging! 🌿
