Okay, so I’ve been taking these gummy vitamins for a while now, and my 5-year-old saw the bottle and thought they were candy. He actually managed to grab a couple when I wasn’t looking. Luckily I caught him before he ate too many, but now he’s obsessed and keeps asking for 'the yummy gummies.' I’ve tried hiding them, but he’s like a little detective. Anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to keep them out of reach or explain it to a kid?

Oh man, that’s a classic! My 3-year-old did the same with my elderberry gummies. I ended up getting a child-proof pill container and put it up high in a cabinet that they can’t reach. Also, I told him they're 'special medicine for grown-ups' and that if he eats too many, his tummy will hurt. That worked for a while. But honestly, they look and taste so much like candy, it’s a constant battle.

I have the opposite problem – my wife REFUSES to eat my gummy vitamins because she says the texture is 'gross' and 'too chewy.' She’s missing out. But for the kid thing, maybe keep them in a place where you take them only, like your bathroom or office? Out of sight, out of mind. And maybe have a talk about not taking anything without asking. Kids are smart, but they’re also impulsive. Good luck!

Ha, I get it. My kids used to go crazy for those, so I switched to the non-gummy type and swallowed them real quick before they could see. But if you’re stuck on gummies, maybe get a jar with a lock? Seriously. They have these medication lockboxes that are cheap. Also, make it a ritual: 'Only mommy/daddy takes these when they need a boost.' Kids understand routines. And maybe slip him a piece of fruit instead – they’re just as sweet and healthy.

Thanks everyone, these are great ideas! The lockbox is a good call – I think I’ll get one. And I might try the 'grown-up medicine' angle, although he’s pretty stubborn. Also, KaleKen, lol about your wife – the texture is part of the fun! But I get it, not for everyone. Appreciate the help!
