My kid thinks my omega-3s are gummy bears

Okay so I keep my vitamins in a jar on the counter. My 5yo saw my new bottle of omega-3 softgels and goes 'OH GUMMY BEARS!' and before I could stop him, he popped one in his mouth. He immediately made a face and spit it out. 'Yuck, mom, these are not gummy bears.' Then he refused to eat his actual gummy vitamins because he thought they'd taste like that. Help, how do I get him to trust gummies again? 😂

Classic confusion lol. Softgels are basically just oil in a shell, so they taste nothing like candy. But to prevent future mix-ups, maybe keep them in a cabinet or use a child-resistant container. As for getting him to trust gummies, maybe let him pick out his own gummy vitamins next time at the store, and make a big deal about them being 'special candy' just for him.

Haha, my husband did the same thing once with my fish oil pills! He grabbed one thinking it was a gummy multivitamin. Not a fun surprise. I'd say let your kid see you eating the gummies and enjoying them, so he knows they're okay. Maybe have a 'vitamin party' where everyone takes theirs together, but only the gummy kind for him. That might help rebuild trust.

Good ideas, thanks! I'll try the 'vitamin party' thing. And definitely moving the softgels out of reach. Guess I'll have to explain why 'gummy' isn't always gummy. Parenting is just repeating yourself, right? 😅
