Hey everyone! I tried making my own super green gummies at home using gelatin and vitamin powder, but they turned out like rubbery blobs with a weird taste. The recipe I followed said to mix the powder with cold water first, then heat the gelatin, but I think I did it wrong. Can anyone share a foolproof recipe or tips? Also, is there a way to mask the vitamin taste without adding a ton of sugar?

As a retired nurse, I've seen many folks try DIY gummies. First, make sure you're using the right ratio of gelatin to liquid. Too much gelatin makes them rubbery. Also, vitamin powders can break down at high temps. Try mixing the vitamin powder with a little liquid and add it AFTER the gelatin has dissolved and cooled slightly. For taste, try adding a few drops of lemon or orange extract, or even some honey. Stevia works too if you want low sugar.

Yes! I agree with adding flavor extracts. Also, consider using agar agar instead of gelatin if you're vegan or just want a different texture. But note that agar sets at room temp, so you need to work fast. Also, if you're using vitamin powder, make sure it's finely ground to avoid gritty texture. And maybe add some fruit puree like mango or berry to mask the taste naturally. Remember, trial and error!

Ah, brings back memories of my first gummy attempt! I used to think you could just dump the powder in, but nah. I've found that using a silicone mold helps, and you gotta let them set in the fridge for a few hours. Also, if they're too sticky, dust them with a little cornstarch when you pop them out. But honestly, sometimes it's easier to just buy them. But good on you for trying!

Thanks for all the tips! I'll try again with less gelatin and add the vitamin powder later. And I'll definitely use some orange extract and maybe some mango puree. Will let you know how it goes!
