Hey all, I tried making my own Super Green Gummies at home using gelatin and a greens powder blend. I followed a recipe I found online, but the gummies came out super tough and rubbery, almost like chewing on a tire. Anyone have tips for getting them soft and chewy like store-bought? I used 3 tbsp gelatin, 1/2 cup cold water, 1/4 cup honey, and 2 scoops of green powder. Heated on low. Thanks!

Oh no, I've had that happen before! The issue is likely too much gelatin or not enough water. For softer gummies, try using 2 tbsp gelatin and increasing the liquid to 3/4 cup. Also, make sure you bloom the gelatin in cold water for 5-10 mins before heating. If you want vegan-friendly, agar agar works but you gotta boil it. I found that adding a little lemon juice helps too. Good luck!

Wait, are these gummies meant to be a supplement for kids? Because homemade ones might not have the right vitamin dosages. Also, that green powder could be anything. I'd be cautious about potency. But for texture, maybe try less gelatin as TeaTina said, or add some fruit puree? My kids hated the ones I made from a recipe online. I just buy them now.

LOL SolarSam, you're probably right but let the guy experiment! RootRose, I've made these before – try adding a splash of apple juice or stevia to mask the green taste. And don't overheat the gelatin, it breaks down and gets rubbery. I use a candy thermometer and keep it under 180°F. Also, let them set in the fridge for at least 4 hours. Pro tip: add some caffeine powder for energy!
