Hey everyone! I'm trying to make my own Vitamin C gummies at home because store-bought ones are too pricey. I used gelatin, some fruit juice, and ascorbic acid powder, but they came out super tough and rubbery - like chewing on a tire. Anyone have a good recipe or know what I did wrong? I'm new to this DIY stuff.

Bro, making gummies is all about the ratios. If they're too tough, you probably added too much gelatin or cooked it too long. Try using less gelatin and don't boil the mixture - just heat until the gelatin dissolves. Also, make sure you're not using regular vitamin C powder that's coated or buffered - that can mess with the texture. I've got a solid recipe if you want it.

I've been there! Sometimes it's the acid in the vitamin C that breaks down gelatin. I switched to agar-agar for a vegan version, but that's even more finicky. For gelatin, try adding a little bit of honey or corn syrup to keep it softer. Also, let them set in the fridge for at least 4 hours - I was too impatient and they were a mess. What's your exact recipe? Maybe we can troubleshoot.

Thanks guys! I think I used too much gelatin - I just eyeballed it. Also, I might have boiled it. I'll try again with less gelatin and maybe add some honey. AlphaAdam, I'd love to see your recipe. FitnessFanatic, I tried agar once and it was like jello, but I'll stick to gelatin for now. I'll let you know how batch #2 goes!
