THREAD: My Vitamin C gummies changed color and got hard - are they still safe to take?Started by OP

Hey everyone, I've been taking these Vitamin C gummies for about 3 months now and I just noticed something weird. The bottle was in my pantry (not in direct sunlight or anything) and when I opened it today, some of the gummies have turned a darker orange color and feel really hard. A couple are even sticking together. They don't smell bad, but the texture is totally different. Are these still safe to eat or should I toss them? Has anyone else had this happen?

Oh honey, toss them immediately! I'm a mom of three and I would NEVER give my kids gummies that changed like that. It's probably some kind of mold or bacteria growth, even if you can't see it. Those things are full of sugar anyway - sugar bloom is what they call it when they get hard and change color. Not worth the risk, especially with kids around. I'd contact the company and ask for a refund too.

Hey OP! As a yoga instructor, I'm all about listening to your body's intuition here. If they feel 'off' to you, that's probably your gut telling you something. The hardening and color change is likely just moisture loss or sugar crystallization - happens with gummies sometimes. They're PROBABLY still safe chemically, but the nutrients might have degraded. I'd say if they're more than 6 months old, maybe time for fresh ones. Breathe into that decision! ๐

Fellow holistic healer here - this is actually a sign of energetic imbalance in the product. When gummies change texture and color, it means the life force energy (prana) has left them. They become 'dead' food. Even if they're technically 'safe' by FDA standards, they won't provide the vibrational nourishment your body needs. I recommend making your own Vitamin C gummies with fresh citrus and agar-agar - way more potent and you control the ingredients!

DynamicDan is right about the energy shift, but let me add from a practical holistic perspective. The color change suggests oxidation - Vitamin C is very sensitive to light and air. Once oxidized, it loses potency dramatically. Those gummies might be 'safe' to eat in that they won't make you sick immediately, but you're basically eating expensive sugar at this point. Better to invest in a quality supplement that uses proper packaging (dark glass, oxygen absorbers) or switch to whole food sources like camu camu powder.
