Traveling with Vitamin C Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Rules?

Hey everyone! I'm going on a trip next week - mix of flying and some hiking. I always take my vitamin C gummies daily, but I'm worried about them melting in my bag or getting confiscated. Has anyone traveled with these before? Do they hold up in heat? And what about TSA - are gummy vitamins okay in carry-ons? Thanks!

omg YES they can totally melt! I learned this the hard way on a road trip last summer. Left my orange-flavored gummies in the car while we stopped for lunch and came back to a sticky mess in the bottle. The texture was ruined - went from perfect chewy to weirdly soft and sticky. If you're hiking or leaving them in a hot car, definitely keep them in the coolest part of your bag. Maybe even with an ice pack if it's really hot?

Scientifically speaking, most gummy vitamins begin to degrade around 90-100°F (32-38°C). The gelatin and pectin structure breaks down, causing melting and potential nutrient loss. For TSA: they're considered supplements, not liquids/gels, so they're allowed in carry-ons. I'd recommend keeping them in original packaging with labels visible. Pro-tip: if flying, put them in your personal item rather than checked luggage where temperatures can fluctuate more dramatically in cargo holds.

I travel for competitions all the time with my supps. For gummies, I use a small insulated lunch bag with a freezer pack - works perfect. TSA has never given me issues, just keep them in the bottle. On hiking days, I put them in a ziplock inside my hydration pack where it's against my back (body temp helps regulate). The key is avoiding direct sun exposure. Also, if they do get a little soft, they're still effective, just messy to eat lol

Ugh melted gummies are the worst! The flavor gets all weird and concentrated in some spots. I found these awesome little travel containers that are insulated - got them on Amazon. They keep my berry-flavored C gummies perfect even on beach vacations. TSA-wise, I've flown with them maybe 10 times and only got questioned once - just showed them the label and they were cool with it. Definitely don't put them in checked bags though, the temp changes in cargo will wreck them!
