Hey everyone! So I got a new bottle of Vitamin D gummies last week and I've noticed they're kind of hard now and have some weird white spots on them. Is that sugar bloom? Are they still okay to take? I hate wasting them!

Sugar bloom is normal, my gummies do that all the time if they've been in a warm place. They're probably fine, just a little crunchy on the outside lol. I've eaten them like that and had no issues.

I agree with Nina, it's likely sugar crystallization. But if they're really hard and not chewy at all, they might be past their prime. Check the expiration date and make sure they haven't melted and re-solidified. Usually it affects quality but not safety. I'd say eat 'em if no weird smell or taste.

As a biohacker, I look at this more strictly. If the texture changes significantly, it could indicate degradation of the active ingredients due to moisture or temperature. The vitamin D might be less potent, but not toxic. To be safe, I'd toss them and store the next bottle in a cool, dry place. Cheap to replace.
