Help! My kid thinks Vitamin D gummies are candy!

Okay so this morning I caught my 5-year-old sneaking a third 'candy' from the vitamin jar. I had to explain (again) that these are supplements, not treats. Anyone else deal with this? How do you make sure they don't overdo it? Concerned about vitamin D toxicity, but also laughing because he's so sneaky.

Oh, I totally get it! My 4-year-old used to do the same. Now I keep the bottle in a high cabinet and only give them out myself. I also tell him they're 'growing superhero medicine' - works like a charm. He asks for them, but I say, 'Only one for superheroes!'

I'm actually more concerned about the opposite - my husband REFUSES to eat them because of the 'weird' texture. Says they're too chewy and leave a funny aftertaste. We stopped buying gummies and switched to liquid drops. Problem solved, but now I have to deal with his complaints about the drops. Ha!

Have you tried making your own? I make gummies with real fruit juice and a high-quality vitamin D drop. My kids love them, but I still keep the jar in a lockbox because they would eat the whole batch if they could! I use a silicone mold - it's easy. Let me know if you want the recipe!

Yara, that's genius! I'm intrigued. But I'm also wary about messing up the dosage. How do you measure the vitamin D per gummy? And Vince, lol, your husband sounds like mine - picky. But I might try the drops if the gummies keep being an issue. Thanks for the tips, everyone!
