Hey all, so I tried making my own vitamin D gummies at home using gelatin and some liquid vitamin D drops. Followed a recipe online but they came out super rubbery and separated weirdly. Any tips? I'm about to give up and just buy them.

I've been there! The problem is probably the gelatin to liquid ratio. Also, are you using fruit juice? That can mess with the setting. For a better bite, try using agar instead of gelatin, and use less liquid. Also add a little citric acid for taste. What exact recipe did you use?

Rubbery texture often means you used too much gelatin or didn't let them set at the right temperature. Also, vitamin D is fat-soluble, so you need some oil in the mix, but that can cause separation. Try blending the oil into the liquid with an immersion blender before adding the gelatin. Also, make sure you're not boiling the gelatin - just heat enough to dissolve. And let them set in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

Honestly, if they taste bad, that's a dealbreaker. I once made some with too much fish oil and they were nasty. Maybe try a flavored extract like orange or lemon to mask that vitamin D taste. And for texture, I found that using a combination of gelatin and agar gives a chewy but not rubbery texture. Let us know how it goes!
