THREAD: Homemade Vitamin D Gummies Disaster - Help!Started by LemonLiam335

Hey everyone, I tried making my own vitamin D gummies at home using gelatin and some vitamin D3 powder I bought online. Followed a basic recipe but they came out super rubbery and wouldn't set properly - just a sticky mess! Anyone have tips for getting the right consistency? I'm trying to avoid store-bought ones with all those artificial additives.

LOL been there! I make keto gummies all the time. Gelatin can be tricky - did you bloom it first? Also, too much vitamin powder can mess with the texture. Try using grass-fed gelatin and maybe add some MCT oil to help it bind better. What sweetener did you use? Stevia works best for me.

Omg I feel you! I switched to agar agar for my paleo gummies - much easier to work with IMO. Gelatin always gave me trouble too. Also make sure your vitamin D is the right type - some powders don't dissolve well. Are you using D2 or D3? D3 from lanolin works better for gummies I think.

Thanks both! @PlantPat813 I did bloom the gelatin but maybe not long enough? Used honey as sweetener. @TeaTina566 It's D3 powder - says it's from lichen actually. Maybe I'll try agar next time. How much vitamin D do you guys put per gummy? Worried about dosing accurately at home...

Honey might be the issue - too much moisture! Try powdered erythritol instead. For dosing, I mix the vitamin powder with a tiny bit of avocado oil first to distribute evenly. Start with like 500IU per gummy and test from there. Also - silicone molds are a MUST for easy removal!
