My kid thinks the Vitamin D gummies are candy – is that bad?

So yesterday my 5yo found the bottle of Vitamin D gummies in the pantry. I turned around for ONE second and he had already popped three in his mouth. He was like "mmm, these gummy bears are yummy!" I freaked out but then read the label – they're just vitamin D, nothing crazy. But now he keeps asking for "candy" every morning. Anyone else's kids do this? Should I be worried about overdose? 😬

Haha, classic kid move! Honestly, if they're just vitamin D, a few extra gummies won't hurt (within reason). But to avoid the confusion, I'd suggest keeping them in a high cabinet or somewhere your kid can't reach. Also, maybe switch to a different brand that looks less like candy? Some have weird textures that kids actually hate lol. My nephew refused them because they were too 'chewy' – go figure.

OMG I have the opposite problem! My husband REFUSES to eat the D gummies because he says they're "too sticky" and get stuck in his teeth. He's a grown man whining about texture... 🙄 But yeah, for kids, I'd be careful about overdose. Vitamin D is fat-soluble so it can build up. Maybe check with your doc about safe limits? But one-time extra dose is prolly fine. Also, maybe get the ones shaped like animals? My kid loves the bear ones.

Thanks guys! I'll move them to the top of the fridge for sure. And LOL at your husband @MindfulMila48 – maybe get him the soft gel kind? Haha. I think my kiddo is just obsessed with gummy texture. I'll ask our pediatrician at the next visit. For now, I'll try the "these are special grown-up vitamins" angle. 😅
