THREAD: My toddler thinks vitamin D gummies are candy - help!Started by OP

Okay, I need to vent/ask for advice. My 4-year-old discovered my vitamin D gummies yesterday and now thinks they're 'mommy's special candy.' I caught him trying to climb the kitchen counter to get to them! I've explained they're medicine, but he just sees the bright orange color and fun shape. Anyone else deal with this? I'm worried he'll actually get into them when I'm not looking.

Oh I feel this so hard! My daughter went through the same phase last winter. We ended up switching to a liquid vitamin D dropper that we mix into her morning smoothie - no candy confusion! The gummies were just too tempting with their texture and sweetness. Maybe try keeping them in a locked cabinet? We use one of those childproof medicine boxes now for all supplements.

Honestly, this is why I avoid gummies altogether - too much sugar and carbs even in the 'healthy' ones. I take a straight vitamin D3 capsule with my morning fatty coffee. But if you're sticking with gummies, maybe try the sugar-free ones? Less appealing to kids usually. Or hide them with the keto snacks - my kids never touch those lol

We had the opposite problem! My 6-year-old REFUSES the gummies because she says they're 'too squishy' and prefers her chewable tablets. Kids are so particular! But definitely second the locked cabinet suggestion - we keep all supplements (even the 'natural' ones) completely out of reach. Maybe try making it a special 'grown-up only' ritual that happens at a specific time when kids are distracted?
