My Vitamin D gummies turned hard and sugary - safe to eat?

Hey everyone! I bought a bottle of Vitamin D gummies a couple of months ago, and I just noticed they've changed. They're now really hard, and there's some white stuff on them (sugar bloom?). Also, a few are stuck together. I'm a student on a budget so I don't want to waste them, but are they still safe to eat? Has anyone else had this happen?

Oh, I've totally seen that with my gummy vitamins! It usually happens if they get exposed to moisture or heat. I think it's just the sugar crystallizing, not mold or anything. They should be safe, but they might not taste as good. Maybe you could try gently separating them and putting them in an airtight container with a desiccant pack? I do that for my gummies now.

Okay, but are they still tasty? I'm super picky about the taste and texture of my gummies. If they get hard, they lose that chewy goodness. I'd probably toss them because I wouldn't enjoy them, but if you're okay with the texture, they're probably fine. Just check for any weird smell or mold (like if they're fuzzy or discolored beyond just white).

As a mom, I'm always cautious about this stuff. I agree with the others that sugar bloom is common and harmless, but I'd also look at the expiration date and how they've been stored. If they were stored in a warm place, the vitamins could degrade, making them less effective. I'd say if they smell okay and don't have any signs of spoilage, they're safe, but you might not get the full dose. I'd probably use them up quickly and buy a new bottle. Also, maybe store them in the fridge next time to prevent this? Just a thought.
