New study on Vitamin D gummies: legit or just hype?
Just read this study (PMID 12345678) claiming that vitamin D gummies are as effective as pills. But it was funded by a gummy manufacturer. What do you all think? Legit or biased?
I'm not surprised. Big Pharma is always trying to push their products. But I'd rather get my D from the sun or fortified plant milks. Gummies are full of sugar and junk. I'd skip them.
I've been taking vitamin D gummies for months and my levels are fine. But I also drink like 5 cups of coffee a day, so who knows? Anyway, I feel good, so I'm sticking with them.
The study design matters. If it's a randomized controlled trial, funding isn't necessarily a deal-breaker. But you need to check if it's peer-reviewed and if the dose and form (gummies vs. pills) are comparable. Also, look for independent replication. I can dig up more if you want.
Thanks Paula! I'll look for the full text. Also Greg, I get your point but not everyone gets enough sun. Gummies might be a convenient option. Anyway, appreciate the input all.
