Just read this article about getting Vitamin D without sun, and it mentions supplements. As a keto guy, I'm all about that indoor life, especially now. But I'm skeptical about gummies—too much sugar? I've been considering Vitamin D gummies, but I need the lowdown. Anyone else rely on them during winter?

I feel ya, Berry! I'm a fitness instructor, so I'm outside a lot, but even I struggle in the winter. I've tried both drops and gummies. Gummies are convenient, but you gotta watch the added sugars. Look for ones with no sugar or sweetened with stevia. Also, pair with fat for absorption (good for you keto folks!). I take mine with my morning avocado toast.

Sunshine is overrated when you got supplements, lol. I've been on Vitamin D gummies for years. They taste so good it's hard to remember they're supplements. But Wendy's right about sugar—check the label. Some have 2g sugar per gummy, which adds up if you're doing 2 a day. But hey, it's better than not getting enough D. I also get my levels tested annually.

Thanks for the tips! So what's the deal with absorption? I've heard Vitamin D is fat-soluble. On keto, I get plenty of fat, so that's not an issue. But do gummies have any specific fat content? Or do we just take it with a meal? I might just go for the gummies, no sugar added if I can find them. Any brand recommendations?

Yes, fat-soluble! So take with a meal that has fat. As for gummies, they usually don't contain fat, but they're often made with coconut oil or something? Not sure. I use a spray now, but I used to take the Nature's Bounty gummies—they have no sugar, sweetened with maltitol? Actually, I think they use erythritol now. Check reviews on Amazon. Also, you can get a blood test to see your starting levels. Better to be safe.
