Traveling with OLLY Probiotic Gummies - Do They Melt? TSA Rules?
Hey everyone, I'm heading out on a 6-hour flight and then a camping trip. I've been taking these OLLY probiotic gummies every day and don't want to miss a dose. But I'm worried about them melting in my luggage or getting flagged by TSA. Do you think they'll survive? Any storage tips? Also, are gummies subject to the 3-1-1 rule?
I've traveled with those exact gummies on multiple occasions, both flying and road trips. I've never had a problem with TSA - I just keep them in my carry-on. They're solid, so they're not subject to the liquid rule. As for melting, they can soften if it's really hot, but they won't liquefy like chocolate. I usually throw the bottle in my backpack and it's been fine even in the summer. If you're worried, you can put them in a cooler for the camping part, but for a flight, no issues. Just keep them out of direct sun.
My husband takes these for his gut health, and we've babysat our grandkids with them. I've never thought about traveling with them! Thanks for asking. I'd probably put them in a small pill organizer to save space, but make sure it's clearly labeled. My concern would be if they get too warm and stick together. Maybe you can refrigerate them before you go? Would that help? I'm curious if that's okay for the probiotic.
Good point about the pill organizer, Uma. But I've read that probiotics are sensitive to heat, so I'm still a bit worried. Does the fridge help? Also, do they count as a gel? I remember the 3-1-1 rule for liquids, but gummies are solid. So they should be fine, right? I just don't want to have to throw them away at security.
I just checked the OLLY website - they say store in a cool, dry place, but no need to refrigerate. So you can keep them at room temp. On a plane, the cargo hold is actually cold, so that's fine. For camping in hot weather, maybe keep them in a shaded spot or in a cooler if you have one. But honestly, they'll be okay for a few days. And no, they're not considered gels - I've brought them through TSA dozens of times. Don't overthink it!
