THREAD: DIY Sleep Gummies Disaster - Help with Melatonin & Gelatin Mixing!Started by BioBob340

Hey all, so I tried making my own sleep gummies last night after my 3rd cup of coffee wore off (lol). Used gelatin, some melatonin powder, and a bit of L-theanine I had lying around. Total fail - they came out rubbery and bitter AF. Anyone got a solid recipe that actually works? Trying to save $$ instead of buying OLLY every month.

Bob, you gotta balance flavors! Melatonin is notoriously bitter. Try adding real blackberry puree or juice - masks the taste AND gives that OLLY vibe. Also, are you using bloomed gelatin? If you just dump powder in hot liquid, you get rubber cement texture. Pro tip: add a touch of honey or agave for chewiness.

As a fitness pro, I'd caution against eyeballing supplement doses. 3mg melatonin is precise - home batches can have hotspots. That said, for texture: agar agar sets firmer than gelatin if you're vegan. Mix your powders with a carrier (like a tbsp of coconut oil) before adding to base to prevent clumping. Failed a batch last month myself - practice makes perfect!

The universe is telling you to embrace whole herbs, friend! Instead of isolated melatonin, try infusing chamomile & lemon balm tea into your gummy base. Synergistic effects! Also, rubberiness often means overheating the gelatin - keep temp below 140°F to preserve vibrational energy. Blessed be your next batch 🌿
