Just saw this study (PMID: 31445513) that says melatonin may not be that effective for sleep in the long term. But it's funded by a supplement company? Anyone seen this? I use OLLY Sleep Gummies and they knock me out, but wondering if it's just placebo. Thoughts?

I've been using these gummies too, and they help me fall asleep faster. But I've heard mixed things about melatonin. That study sounds like it could be biased if it's funded by a company that sells competing products. I'd take it with a grain of salt. Have you looked at the actual data?

I've read that study. The funding source is definitely sketchy, but the methodology seems solid. However, it's just one study. I think the combo of melatonin with L-theanine and chamomile in OLLY is what makes it work better than melatonin alone. I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm a chef, not a scientist, but I know chamomile and lemon balm are used in teas for relaxation. The melatonin dose in OLLY is low (3mg) so it's probably safe. I'd say if it works for you, keep using it. Studies can be misleading.
