Hey guys, I just read this study (PMID: 34567890) about biotin and hair growth. It basically says that biotin supplements only help if you're actually deficient, and most people aren't. Since OLLY has 2500 mcg of biotin, I'm wondering if it's just a marketing gimmick. The study was funded by a competing supplement company though, so I'm a bit skeptical. What do you all think? I've been taking these for my nails and they seem stronger, but maybe it's placebo?

Dude, I feel you on the skepticism. But honestly, I've been popping these OLLY gummies for like 6 months now (when I remember, lol) and my nails are like iron now. My hair is also growing faster, but my wife says it's because I'm getting more sleep nowadays (which is rare with a newborn). I think biotin does work for some people. But that study you mentioned might be biased—like you said, funded by a competitor. I'd check if the authors have any conflicts of interest. Also, biotin is water-soluble, so extra just pees out, no harm. I'll keep taking them cause they taste like grapefruit candy.

As a nurse, I've seen labs with biotin interference from high doses. But 2500 mcg is not that high; the daily recommended is 30-100 mcg, and doses like 5000-10000 are used for deficiency. A lot of beauty supplements use high doses for marketing. The study you mentioned might have a point, but it's important to look at the actual evidence. There are some small studies showing biotin can improve nail brittleness, but for hair loss, it's not clear. I'd say if you don't have a deficiency, it's not going to magically make your hair grow. However, these gummies also have vitamin C and keratin, which are good for skin. In my experience, a balanced diet is key. But hey, if they make you feel good, no harm. Just don't expect miracles.

Good points all. I guess I'll continue with my gummies but maybe not repurchase after this bottle. I also eat a lot of eggs and almonds, so maybe I'm not deficient. Thanks for the input. I just hate wasting money on stuff that might not work. But the taste is definitely a plus!
