THREAD: Saw a study about biotin - is OLLY's Undeniable Beauty gummy legit or just hype?Started by HolisticHolly718

Hey everyone, my granddaughter sent me this link to a study about biotin (PMID: 12345678) that says it might not actually help hair and nails like they claim. I've been taking OLLY's Undeniable Beauty gummies for a few months now hoping it would help my thinning hair. Now I'm worried I'm wasting money. Has anyone else seen this? Do you think the study is legit or is it biased? I really want to trust the product but don't want to be fooled.

Holly, I've been skeptical of these gummy supplements from the start. Most of them are just expensive candy with fancy marketing. That study probably has some truth to it - biotin deficiencies are rare, so supplementing might not do much for people who already get enough from their diet. I'd say save your money and focus on eating whole foods like nuts and eggs if you're concerned about biotin. These companies prey on our hopes for quick fixes.

Interesting! I travel full-time as a digital nomad and take these gummies because they're easy to pack and don't require water. I haven't noticed dramatic changes, but my nails do seem less brittle? Then again, could be placebo. Pat makes a good point about diet - when I'm in places with fresh local food, I probably don't need supplements. But when I'm stuck in airports eating junk, maybe they help? Would love to see more independent studies not funded by supplement companies.

Thanks both. Pat, you're probably right about whole foods - my grandma used to say food is medicine! But at my age, it's hard to get all nutrients from food alone. Nancy, I agree about wanting unbiased studies. Maybe I'll finish this bottle and switch to something more natural. Still curious if anyone here has had real results with these gummies though?
