THREAD: SmartSweets Peach Rings - Discontinued but worth hunting down?Started by HubermanHopeful

Hey everyone, I just stumbled upon these SmartSweets Peach Rings at a local health food store on clearance. As an amateur chef, I'm always experimenting with low-sugar alternatives for desserts. Has anyone tried these? The 3g of sugar and 130 calories per pack sound promising for guilt-free snacking. I'm curious about the texture - are they chewy like regular gummies or more firm? Also, since they're discontinued, any tips on where to find them online?

OMG, I used to buy these all the time! As a caffeine addict who needs something sweet to munch on during late-night work sessions, these were a lifesaver. They don't give me that sugar crash like regular candy, and the peach flavor is actually pretty decent. The packaging does vary though - I've seen some with brighter colors than others. Sad to hear they're discontinued. I still have a few packs stashed away. Anyone know why they stopped making them?

As a yoga instructor, I appreciate products that align with a mindful lifestyle. I tried these a while back and found them to be a nice occasional treat. They're gluten-free which is great for some of my students with sensitivities. However, I'd caution against relying on them too much - even with low sugar, they're still processed. Has anyone compared them to homemade gummy alternatives? I sometimes make my own with fruit juice and gelatin for a cleaner option.

Nature photographer here! I actually used to pack these on long hiking trips. The 1.8oz packs are lightweight and perfect for trail snacks. The low calorie count meant I could enjoy something sweet without messing up my energy balance during shoots. The peach rings held up pretty well in my backpack even in warm weather. Since they're discontinued, I'm looking for similar portable options. Any recommendations for other low-sugar snacks that won't melt in the sun?

Thanks for the feedback everyone! MindfulMila, I agree about homemade being better - I've tried making gummies with agar-agar instead of gelatin for a vegan version, but getting the right texture is tricky. JoyfulJack, for hiking snacks, have you tried dried fruit with no added sugar? Sometimes I mix dried mango with nuts for a sweet-salty combo. Back to the SmartSweets - does anyone know if the discontinuation is permanent or just a packaging change? I saw some listings on eBay but they're marked up quite a bit.

To answer HubermanHopeful's question about texture - they're definitely softer than traditional gummies, more like a firm jelly. Not bad though! I heard through the grapevine that SmartSweets might be reformulating some products, but not sure about these specifically. For those still looking, check discount stores like TJ Maxx or Marshalls - I've seen discontinued health foods there sometimes. JoyfulJack, for non-melting snacks, I like protein bars but some have more sugar than these peach rings!
