THREAD: My Apple Cider Vinegar Gummies Changed Color/Texture - Are They Safe?Started by OP

Hey everyone, hoping for some advice. I bought a bottle of apple cider vinegar gummies about a month ago. I keep them in my kitchen cabinet. I opened them today and noticed they look different. Some have gotten kinda hard and crumbly, others look like they have a white dusty coating on them, and a few are stuck together in a clump. They used to be soft and chewy. Has anyone else had this happen? Are they still safe to eat or should I toss them? Thanks!

omg i feel you, i'm running on 3 hours of sleep with a teething toddler so i get the panic. my kids' multivitamin gummies did this once - got all hard and weird. i called the company (in a sleep-deprived haze lol) and they said it's usually 'sugar bloom' from temp changes or moisture, not harmful but texture might be gross. they sent me a new bottle. maybe try that? but if they smell off or are super discolored, i'd skip it. can't risk getting sick with this little one climbing on everything!

As a marathon runner, I'm super careful about what I put in my body! I've had ACV gummies get sticky and clump together after I left them in my gym bag on a hot day. The heat and humidity can mess with them. If they're just changing texture (hard, sticky, sugar coating) but don't smell bad or have mold, they're probably safe but might taste weird. I'd check the expiration date and store them in a cool, dry place. Personally, I'd toss and replace for peace of mind - not worth gut issues during training!

Skeptical mom here - I don't trust anything that changes like that! My kids' gummies never do this if I buy from reputable brands and store them properly. Are they a cheap brand? Did you leave the lid off? That white dust could be mold starting, and hard texture means they're drying out or old. I'd throw them out immediately and contact the company for a refund. Not worth the risk, especially if you have kids around who might sneak one. Always better safe than sorry!

Amateur chef perspective - this sounds like classic sugar crystallization or moisture issues. The white coating is likely sugar bloom (harmless), hardening is from drying out, and sticking is from heat. In cooking, we see this with candies. They're probably safe if no foul odor or visible mold, but texture will be unpleasant. Try storing with a silica gel packet next time. If you're unsure, use them in a smoothie instead of eating straight - masks the texture! But if they're expired or you see fuzz, definitely toss.
