THREAD: My collagen gummies look weird - are they still safe to eat?Started by OP

Hey everyone, need some advice. I bought these collagen gummies a few weeks ago and they were fine at first, but now they've changed. Some have gotten really hard and crunchy, others have this white powdery stuff on them (sugar bloom maybe?), and they're all sticking together in the jar. They smell okay but the texture is off. Are they still safe to consume or should I toss them?

OP, first off - always trust your gut (pun intended). Hardening and sugar bloom are usually from moisture issues or temp fluctuations. They're PROBABLY safe if they're within expiry and stored properly, but the texture change means degraded quality. For optimal collagen absorption, you want fresh supps. I'd replace them and store the new jar in a cool, dry place - not the bathroom!

whoa, that sounds unsettling! i had something similar with my melatonin gummies last year - they got all sticky and i ate them anyway lol. nothing bad happened but they tasted weird. maybe it's the universe telling you to take a break? have you tried meditating on it? sometimes our bodies know before our minds do.

Data point: Sugar bloom is recrystallization due to humidity changes - chemically safe but indicates poor storage. Hardening suggests moisture loss or oxidation. Sticking together = hygroscopic ingredients. While likely non-toxic, efficacy drops with degradation. Check the COA for stabilizers. For biohacking, consistency matters - I'd discard and source a brand with better packaging (desiccant packs, UV glass).
